Um, yes! There's quite a lot of teaching/preaching on the rich/poor

Luke 16:1-15 (Lazarus /Rich man)
James 2:1-4 (welcoming both poor/rich)
Luke 21:1-4 (Widow's Contribution)

There's the beatitudes (blessed are the poor), the instruction to invite the poor to your parties/banquets, the sheep and the goats (Mt 25).

My point is that Jesus does make the distinction, and actually expects more from those of us with more (Luke 12:48). Yes, Jesus loves us all and no, we don't earn his love... but we do have a responsibility to be in relationship with him, which includes involving ALL our lives (workdays, businesses, bank accounts).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18832679.post-4705492342055184052011-11-21T11:49:42.055-05:002011-11-21T11:49:42.055-05:00Hello Father Jim. Great take on yesterday's Gospel.

Just as Jesus wouldn't join the occupiers, he also didn't take up arms against the Romans, as many Jews would have liked.

His plan was much greater than we could possibly imagine.

This is summed up nicely in the last sentence of your homily:
"That’s way too narrow for this King of the Universe, who comes to occupy our hearts."

By the way, I write a brief reflection on the sunday gospel readings and design two posters based on them every week.

You can see them here:

http://www.studio35design.com/category/sunday-bible-design

God Bless and thank you for your homilies. I read them every week.Ruben Nuñezhttp://www.studio35design.com/blognoreply@blogger.com
